Tas-Sellum, Mellieha is by far the best place to stay in Malta: very quiet and relaxed, beach, watersports and good restaurants nearby.

We practice what we preach: we permanently live in Tas-Sellum ourselves, so we are available and will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have!

About MaltaAbout Malta

Malta is a small island, but very rich in culture. You can visit some of the oldest temples in the world (3500 BC) or just enjoy the natural beauty of the cliffs and seaviews.

The weather in Malta is good all year round, with temperatures never dropping below 15 degrees celcius, but April to August are particularly nice. September is still hot, but it might rain a couple of times (and then only for a few hours!). Compare that to July, when not a drop of rain will fall, and you will know why so many people choose Malta as their favourite holiday destination.

About Mellieha

Mellieha has a lot of restaurants and watersport activities (from scubadiving to jetskiing) near the beach, only 500 meters away.

There is a small supermarket nearby (300 meters) if you need something quick, but we recommend to do your shopping and groceries in the commercial centre of Mellieha (a 5-minute drive or 30-minute walk up the hill). Here you can also find some of the best restaurants in Malta (Giuseppe's, The Arches, Dvine lounge), if you prefer finer dining.

Tas-Sellum is in an upscale residential area. There are a few bars in Mellieha village, including English pubs and karaoke if that's your thing. But if you really want to go partying, St. Julians and Paceville are only a 20-minute drive away. If you don't have a designated driver: easily accessible by bus, even at night. Taxi's are also very affordable.

Popeye Village, where the Popeye movie starring Robin Williams was recorded, takes only a few minutes driving or half an hour walking. There is also a bird sanctuary nearby. The Red Tower on the hill is a very well-known landmark in Malta and is open to tourists daily.

The ferry to Gozo departs at Cirkewwa, only 2 kilometres from Mellieha Bay. We can definitely recommend a daytrip to Gozo, where you can visit Azure Window, the Citadel, Calypso's Cave or enjoy many of the fine beaches.

Nothing is very far away in Malta (the longest you will ever have to drive to get somewhere is 45 minutes). In the south you will find Valletta, the capital city. Mdina, a perfectly preserved medieval city. The temples of Hagar-Qim, which were constructed more than 5000 years ago, which makes them the oldest freestanding structures in the world (older than the Pyramids!). And we can definitely recommend the Hypogeum, which is an exceptionally large underground temple carved out of the rock, but only 10 people are allowed every hour, so you need to make bookings at least 3 months in advance!

Every week the Maltese have fiestas, religious festivals, in a different village. End of April there is an International Fireworks Competition which is very worthwhile and in the summer there are Wine Festivals held. Check or your inflight magazine for a calendar and details.
